Children and Teens

Youth Engaged in Success
Our Youth Engaged in Success (YES) program umbrella offers young people ages 5 to 18 opportunities to have fun, build confidence, learn and practice new skills, and grow together through engaging and challenging development programs like Teens in Action and Better Beginnings, gaining access to Mentoring, Youth Employment Experience, and a variety of Summer Camps and Youth Retreats. We designed the YES offerings to give young people access to the information, experiences, exposure, and support they need to plan and navigate their path to success.

We often serve healthy snacks and meals for our young people to enjoy while receiving after-school homework help or participating in educational enrichment activities throughout the school year and summer.

NBFY Teens In Action (TIA)
Teens in Action offers young people ages 12 to 18 a chance to build and deepen relationships with one another while exploring and serving their community. TIA members learn and gain information that will help shape and guide their life choices through valuable experiential learning opportunities that extend beyond the boundaries of traditional educational environments, their homes, neighbors, city, and even state.

NBFY Summer Camps
NBFY summer camps serve young people ages 5 to 12. We bring them together with their peers, staff, mentors, and youth employees to enjoy activities that engage their minds, bodies, and spirits. Campers have opportunities to participate in sporting activities, team building, learning challenges, various forms of art, and exercise while at camp.

NBFY summer camps help young people build healthy bonds, develop resistance skills, and improve their emotional intelligence and ability to resolve conflicts peacefully.

NBFY Mentoring
Safe, experienced adults and young leaders from within NBFY and the community serve as mentors for our NBFY-connected youth. The saying is, “The best teacher is Mr. and Ms. Experience.”

At NBFY, we understand that not all first-hand experiences are in the best interest of or beneficial to young people. Many unwise choices young people make due to their lack of experience can have catastrophic impacts on their short and long-term success.
Mentors are reliable, well-researched answers to eliminating many risk factors that hinder or derail youth success. That is why NBFY is committed to giving our young people access to dedicated older and young leader mentors.

Youth Employment
NBFY creates unique employment opportunities to help our young people gain valuable employment experience and satisfy some of their unmet financial needs.
We also offer entrepreneurship and financial literacy workshops to add to our young people’s self-sufficiency toolbox of information and skills.

Better Beginnings
Through a variety of fun and exciting activities, including Intramural Sports, that get young people moving and interested in nutrition, the NBFY Better Beginnings program addresses issues of obesity and fitness among young people. We created this initiative to help young people understand the positive impact of maintaining an active lifestyle and developing healthier eating practices on well-being while enjoying themselves. Participation in Better Beginnings could be the touchpoint that inspires a young person towards a lifelong love for and dedication to the benefits of living a fit and healthy life.
